Process Description
The Test setting page will determine how the aspirants will be able to navigate the test portal. It will also determine the pattern of the test, test result view and the number of times aspirants can attempt the test. There are 4 steps to customize your test. Let’s have a look at how the Test setting page works:
Determine the Test Pattern and look, of the test interface.
Select Test Options.
Determine Candidate Setting.
Determine the number of attempts aspirants can avail.
Test Pattern: 📝
Under this option, you can determine what kind of test you want to create. There will be three options under this section:
Section Wise Test
Subject Wise Test
Difficulty Wise Test
A Section Wise test is a test where a coaching institute or individual educator may over one or more exam subjects of a single phase of the exam.
Example: In a Section-wise test for SSC CGL Tier 1, coaching or educator may decide to set the questions based on a single subject (General Awareness) or they may set questions with more than one subject of SSC CGL Tier 1 (General Awareness, General Intelligence, English Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude). The name of the subject remains unchanged while the name of sections under which each subject is placed can be changed. It can be the same name for all sections it can be separate names for each section of the exam.
There are various options available under the Section-wise Test pattern using which you can customize your test. Let’s have a look at them:
Section Name: ✍️
The section name in this type of test is customizable. You can put any desired name in each section of the test. However, keeping the same name for every section will result in the merging of sections as one. If you want to show separate sections of the exam you must add different names to each section.
Example: If you have three sections in your test (Pol Science, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability). You can put three different section names to show three different sections in the test. You can put the same name in all the sections to merge all the sections as one. You can also put the same name in two sections to merge them and yet leave another section separate.
2. No Of Questions: 🙇♂️
In this section, you can set how many questions will be there per subject of the exam. The number of questions can be either equal to the number of questions available in the test or less than the number of available questions in the test background.
3. Difficulty: 😯
By default, there will be a difficulty level available under this section which will be in respect to the actual number of questions available in the test background. However, if you make changes in the number of questions per section you can set the difficulty level of the questions as well. You can decide how many Easy, Medium or hard level questions should be there; keeping in mind the number of questions available in the test. The number of questions under each level of difficulty should be either equal or less than the number of actual available questions.
4. Sectional Time (In Min.) ⏲️
Here you have to put a time to determine how much time would the aspirant spent in answering each section of the exam. If you have covered only one subject still you have to mention a time to finish the exam. However, if you have covered more than one subject in this test you have to mention the time for each section. Mentioning a time per section is mandatory in Subject wise tests.
In case your test has merged section the time allotted to the merged section will be added. If all the sections are merged then aspirants will see a cumulative time.
Example: If you have created a test with General Awareness and Quantitative Aptitude as subjects you have to mention how much time an aspirant will get to answer General Awareness questions and Quantitative Aptitude questions (General Aware – 30 min & Quantitative Aptitude 30 mins).
5. Order:
If you have covered more than one subject in the Subject wise test you may not bother about electing an order. However, if you have covered more than one subject in your test; in that case, you can decide which section you want to show 1st. You can mention a number in the order filed and according to that, the sections will be shown in the test.
Example: If you have covered four subjects in your test. There will be four sections of the exam. If you want to show the fourth section at the first you have to put number 1 in the order box. Accordingly to you have to put a number in the order field to determine the section position in the test.
See the image carefully the last section (Reasoning Ability) has order number 1, Section 2 Quantitative Aptitude has order number 2, Section 1 Pol Science has Order number 3. Hence aspirants will see the Reasoning Ability section 1st, Quantitative Aptitude in the 2nd & Pol Science in the 3rd position.
6. Instructions: 👨🏫
In this section, if you can decide whether the aspirants will see the test instruction separately before each section of the exam or will view the instruction just once before the exam starts. If you want to add instruction for each section of the exam you can do so either by selecting pre-loaded instruction from the drop-down or by selecting Add instruction from the drop-down.
6. Advanced Options: ⚙️
Under the Advanced option, there are a few other options available to edit your test. The options available under the Advanced option of Section-wise test are as follows:
Interval Time- You can decide if you want to allow break time between each section of the exam for your aspirants. If you mention a time, aspirants will have that time for resting before attempting the next section of the exam.
Show instruction section-wise- If you want to show instruction after each section you can do so by selecting “Yes”. However, if you do not want the aspirants to see instruction after each section you can do so by selecting “No”.
Show Section-wise Test Summary- You can choose to show a section-wise test summary to your aspirants by selecting yes or no from this option. If you select yes you will be able to see a section-wise summary of how many questions you have answered, visited or not visited per section. If you select no aspirants will not see a section-wise summary of their test.
Questions appearing in the Test- This is the summary of questions available for the test according to their level of difficulty.
Questions available in Background- This is the number of questions available in the test background as per their level of difficulty.
In this test pattern, the test will be created as per the subjects of the exam. The test may cover one or more subjects of the exam. The subject name can not be modified. It will be picked up according to the subjects you have selected while creating a test.
Example: In a subject-wise test for SSC CGL Tier 1, coaching or educator may decide to set the questions based on a single subject (General Awareness) or they may set questions with more than one subject of SSC CGL Tier 1 (General Awareness, General Intelligence, English Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude). However, the modification of subject names will not be allowed.
There are various options available under the Subject-wise Test pattern using which you can customize your test. Let’s have a look at them:
1. Subject Name: It shows the name of the subject based on which the test is created. The test name is constant and can not be edited. Each subject added to the test will be shown as a section in the test.
2. No Of Questions: By default the number of the actual number of questions avails able will be shown in this section. However, you can change the number of questions per section for the test. If there is are 60 questions available per section you can change it to 10 questions per section. The rest of the questions will remain in the test background.
3. Difficulty Level: When reach the test setting page by default you will see the difficulty level as per the total number of questions. However, you can change the difficulty level as per your choice. In that case, the number of the question under each difficulty level (Easy, Medium, Hard) should be less than the number of total questions.
Example: If you have a total of 60 questions of General Awareness in your test. By default there was Easy- 20, Medium- 20, Hard- 20. If you want to set a different difficulty level for General Awareness, you should always put less number questions under each difficulty level. You may change it to Easy- 8, Medium- 5, Hard- 2.
The number of questions under each difficulty level should not exceed the actual number of available questions.
4. Sectional Time: The sectional time for the Subject wise test pattern is not mandatory. If you define sectional time aspirants will have to finish answering a section of the test within that time. However, if you do not specify a time aspirants will get a cumulative exam time. Aspirants will have to finish answering all the sections within that time frame.
5. Order: Defining order for a Section or Subject of the exam can be also modified by the coaching and individual educator. Like the sectional test here as well you can define a number in the order field according to which the sections of the exam will be displayed to the aspirants.
Example: If you have four subjects in your exam,
i) General Awareness,
ii) General Intelligence,
iii) Quantitative Aptitude
iv) English Language.
However you want the English Language to be displayed in the 1st position, General Awareness in the 2nd position, General Intelligence in the 3rd and Quantitative Aptitude in the 4th position or tab in the test, you can do so. You have to mention number 1 in the order field against the English Language, 2 against the order field of General Awareness, 3 against the order field of General Intelligence and 4 against the order field of Quantitative Aptitude. In the test, aspirants will see the English section in the 1st, General Awareness in the 2nd, consecutively General Intelligence in the 3rd and Quantitative Aptitude in the 4th.
6. Instructions: You can choose to show section-wise instructions or just once just before the test begins. If you want to show section-wise instruction and you have not added it before coming to the Test setting page you can add it by clicking on the instruction field. You can select the pre-loaded instruction or you can add your own.
7. Advanced Options: Under the advanced option, there are other functionalities that you can access.
a. Show instruction subject wise- Using this feature you can turn off or on showing sectional instructions. If you want to show sectional instruction choose Yes and if you do not want to show sectional instruction choose No.
b. Questions appearing in the Test- This is an auto-generated count of the questions appearing in the test according to their difficulty levels.
c. Questions available in Background- This is also an auto-generated count of the total number of questions added to the test as per their difficulty level.
In this pattern of the test, there will be no section or subject name. You can only set questions as per difficulty level. However, there can be questions related to one or more subjects of an exam. There is no other option available under this test pattern. Aspirants will get cumulative time to finish their exams. There would be no section displayed. The question of all the subjects or sections will be mixed in this type of test.
Under Advanced options of this test pattern, there are two options:
a) Questions appearing in the Test- This is an auto-generated report showing the count of available questions in the test according to their difficulty levels.
b) Questions available in Background- This is also an autogenerate report showing the count of the total number of questions available according to their level of difficulty.
There is one common thing under all the test patterns, which is question randomization. The questions order can be randomized. The answer options for the questions can also be randomized. There is also a chance that your aspirants may get a different set of questions in the test. However, for that, you have to have enough number of questions available in your test. You have to also remember to put less number of questions in your test than the total number of questions.
You may also set a difficulty level for your test. The questions in your test can still be randomized. The difficulty level of the questions will remain the same however, different questions of similar difficulty level may appear in the test for different aspirants.
Arrangement:
This section provides freedom of randomizing question order and also gives the option to randomize the order of answers.
Below the Arrangement, you will find the option of Shuffling. There will be two options under Shuffling; Question Wise Shuffle & Option Wise Shuffle.
Test Options: 📄
The utility allows the Coaching Institutes and individual educators to provide freedom of navigation through the test interface.
There will be five options to allow.
Allow user to move back and forward – If you allow this feature, aspirants will be able to move backwards and forward in the question order of the test.
Show calculator- If you allow this, aspirants will see a calculator online on the test page or interface.
Allow user to pause and resume- If you allow this feature, aspirants will be able to pause the test. The exam timer showing sectional or cumulative time left for the test will be stopped if the aspirant pauses the exam. The timer will start again when the aspirant will resume the test.
Allow users to attempt tests in multiple languages- This function will only work if you have added questions in more than one language within your test. If you have added questions in both Hindi and English language, only then you will be able to allow this feature.
Apply partial marking- If you want to allow partial marking for the test questions. Only then you should allow this feature.
What is partial marking?
If an aspirant has answered a question and the answer is partly correct. Coaching Institutes and Individual Educators can choose to give them marks for the correct part only. In this scenario, the aspirant will not get full marks but will get some marks for the correct part. This is called partial marking. This kind of marking scheme is generally allowed for Maths papers.
Candidate Setting: ⚙️
In the candidate settings, coaching institutes and individual educators can decide whether the aspirants can see test results and information of top performers. Candidate settings have two sections:
Show result with Candidate as per your subsequent selection:
This section is for publishing the results for the aspirants. If you select auto the result of the test will be auto-generated immediately after aspirants finish the test. If you select Manual, this would mean publishing of results would lie upon Coaching Institutes and Individual educators. There would be no specific time provided to publish the result. Coaching Institutes can decide when to publish the result of that particular test result. However, if you have created a Live Test (Date Enabled), in that case, your test result will be Dated automatically. For a date enabled live test, there is always a start and end date. The result of such a test would be published after the end date of the test. There is a time frame of 15 days provided to the coaching institutes and individual educators to publish the result of a Live Test (Date Enabled).
Show details of Top Performer to the candidate:
If you select yes in this option aspirants will see the marks scored by a top 10 performers who have attempted the same test.
Multiple Attempt: 📝
The last step of test settings is to allow aspirants to take a test multiple times or not. If you select “Yes” aspirants will be able to take that particular test multiple times. If you select “No” aspirants will only be able to take the test once. However, by default, there is one free attempt free for all aspirants if you select “Yes” for multiple attempts there will be a field next for you to mention how many re-attempts of the test you want to allow. If you select “No” aspirants will just be able to attempt the test once and there will be no re-attempt of the test.
After completing the Test Setting, you have to click on the Next button. You will see the summary of the test setting page.
